Welcome....Theatre for Life Youth Theatre & Community Page

Theatre for Life CIC is a Community Interest Company set up to support local performers in the Southampton area aged 14-25 yrs old.

Our ethos is to create inspiring and challenging theatre that is innovative and collaborative, whilst building confidence and performance skills.

As a Community Interest Company we are reliant on income from the workshops, funding and donations to help us run the FREE Youth Theatre & Community Projects.

We want young people to be able to participate in exciting theatre projects, exploring and creating performance work that will reach the wider community.

Running weekly rehearsals for our local youth community will help to create engaging and creative environments, this can help to build self esteem and a sense of belonging.

In 2019 we are looking to create two original participatory theatre projects with young people in the Southampton area.

Our aim is to continue improving accessibility to the arts and creating new work with young people that is inspiring and life changing.

BURYING YOUR BROTHER IN THE PAVEMENT AUDIENCE  REVIEWS

The cast were fearless on stage successfully communicating hard hitting themes such as sexuality, male suicide and grief which left their audience members empathetic and moved by the storyline. (Daily Echo Newspaper)

Wow. Absolutely brilliant all round. Incredibly emotional. Set design, props, sound and lighting, costumes, make up and very supportive and talented cast led by an extremely talented team made this performance what it was.

Brilliant performances, lighting, sound, costumes. A very moving show.

Brilliantly directed and incredibly visual, the underscore and technical support was WOW! (Mark Wheeller - Playwright)

ASHLEIGH'S SILENCE
Performers aged 14-19 yrs old

Ashleigh’s waited fourteen years for her voice to be heard, until one day she discovered a way to tell the world that she saw, felt and heard everything around her, despite being autistic and unable to speak. This play follows Ashleigh’s incredible journey through medical mis- diagnosis, a judgemental society, respite, and the moment when Ashleigh’s silence is finally broken. Throughout this inspiring story we learn about the pressures placed upon Ashleigh’s family, the complexities of other young people on the autistic spectrum and the importance of equality and acceptance for all humanity. 'Ashleigh’s Silence' is an effective educational play which helps raise awareness about autism to the wider community.

There is no doubt in my mind that I would not be where I am in life, both personally and professionally, without the time and dedication that Michelle put in when I was her student. An incredibly creative and talented director and teacher, Michelle continues to inspire me several years later. The creative work she produces is outstanding time after time. She has a talent for bringing out the best in people, regardless of background, experience or confidence. Cannot recommend enough.
